As a Software Development Engineer I on this team, you will: - Design, build, test, and operate features that scale and extend the Amazon Store experience on Echo Show and Fire devices. - Write high-quality, well-tested code and participate actively in code reviews, both giving and receiving thoughtful feedback. - Contribute to systems that render the Amazon store in real time, keep it in sync, and support conversational, multimodal shopping flows. - Help extend the experience to new surfaces and international marketplaces, working through ambiguity where there is no existing playbook. - Own your components end-to-end through livesite operations — monitoring, on-call participation, and continuous improvement of reliability and performance. - Collaborate with engineering, science, product, and design partners across Alexa Shopping, including teammates in Seattle across time zones. - Contribute ideas to technical designs, ask good questions, and grow your scope and autonomy over time with support from senior engineers and mentors. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience - Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - 3+ years of designing and developing large-scale, multi-tiered, multi-threaded, embedded or distributed software applications, tools, systems, and services using: C#, C++, Java, or Perl experience
