Software Development Engineer, Payroll Tax & Accounting Tech

- Define high-level and low-level design for the global gross-to-net calculation engine with complex tax processing capabilities using the latest AWS technology in a large distributed environment - Take the lead on defining and implementing engineering best practices for deterministic financial calculations and using data to define and improve operational best practices - Help drive the architecture and technology choices for the LLM-based rule extraction pipeline and tax-centric gross-to-net calculation products - Design, develop and deploy medium to large software solutions for Amazon's global payroll tax calculation and gross-to-net accounting needs - Raise the bar on code quality, including security, auditability, readability, consistency, and maintainability - Leverage GenAI capabilities to build validation frameworks and continuously improve system accuracy BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience programming with at least one software programming language - Bachelor's degree or equivalent - Experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations - Experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers - Knowledge of Machine Learning and LLM fundamentals, including transformer architecture, training/inference lifecycles, and optimization techniques
