Software Development Manager, MAPLE Retention

- Lead and manage a team of software engineers responsible for building and scaling large-scale distributed systems that power music streaming and purchasing experiences on Amazon Retail - Define technical vision and architecture for systems serving millions of customers across Amazon Website, mobile Apps, Kindle, Fire TV, and web clients - Drive Operational Excellence by establishing engineering best practices, defining on-call strategies, and ensuring high availability and reliability of services - Partner with product management and cross-functional engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical roadmaps and deliverables - Mentor, coach, and grow engineering talent through regular 1:1s, career development planning, and performance management - Own end-to-end delivery of projects from design through deployment, ensuring quality, scalability, and customer impact - Influence organizational strategy by collaborating with senior BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 7+ years of engineering experience - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams - Experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers
