Sr. Software Application Engineering Manager , Amazon Books

Lead and grow a team of Application Engineers, System Development Engineers, and RPA Developers supporting multiple Books organizations Drive the design and delivery of scalable automation solutions, internal tools, workflow platforms, and AI-powered operational systems Partner with Operations, Product, Program, and Engineering teams to identify automation opportunities and prioritize high-impact initiatives Establish mechanisms for roadmap planning, project execution, dependency management, and operational reviews across multiple programs Drive operational excellence through standardized development, testing, deployment, and support processes Own delivery of GenAI and workflow automation initiatives leveraging AWS and internal Amazon technologies Mentor engineers and technical leads while building a high-performance engineering culture focused on innovation and execution Influe BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical discipline - Experience designing, building, operating, and managing large-scale distributed systems or web services - Experience with one or more general-purpose programming languages such as Java, C/C++, C#, Objective C, Python, JavaScript, Ruby, or Go - Experience writing scripts and automating processes with an understanding of the complete deployment life cycle from design, build, test, deploy - 5+ years of engineering team management experience PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in written and verbal communication with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to executives and non-technical leaders - Experience with AI/ML technologies - Experience with AWS technologies like Redshift, S3, AWS Glue, EMR, Kinesis, FireHose, Lambda, and IAM roles and permissions - Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps influencing internal and external stakeholders - Experience with robotic process
