Sr. Software Development Engineer, Payroll Tax & Accounting Tech

- Lead the architecture and technical design for the global gross-to-net calculation engine with complex tax processing capabilities using the latest AWS technology in a large distributed environment - Drive engineering excellence by defining and implementing engineering best practices for deterministic financial calculations and using data to define and improve operational best practices - Own the technical direction and architecture choices for the LLM-based rule extraction pipeline and tax-centric gross-to-net calculation products - Design, develop and deploy large-scale software solutions for Amazon's global payroll tax calculation and gross-to-net accounting needs - Raise the bar on code quality, including security, auditability, readability, consistency, and maintainability across the team - Leverage GenAI capabilities to build validation frameworks and continuously improve system ac BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience - 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience, or Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent - 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team, or experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead - Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - 8+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience - Master's degree in computer science or equivalent - Experience building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers, or experience designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems - Experience leading engineering teams as a mentor or tech lead,
